Oneness of God

“Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD” in Deuteronomy 6:4 establishes the unchanging truth that God is one. Scripture affirms this throughout, with Isaiah 45:5 declaring, “I am the LORD, and there is none else.” The saving name revealed in the New Testament is Jesus, as Acts 4:12 teaches that salvation is found in no other name. Philippians 2:9-10 further shows that the name of Jesus carries supreme authority in worship and redemption.

Jesus reveals the fullness of God manifested to humanity. Isaiah 9:6 calls the promised Son Mighty God and Everlasting Father. John 1:14 declares that the Word became flesh and dwelt among us. Colossians 2:9 affirms that all the fullness of the Godhead dwells in Him bodily. Jesus said in John 14:9, “He that hath seen me hath seen the Father,” revealing that the one God is fully known through Jesus Christ, whose name holds the fullness of divine authority and glory.

Salvation

The call to salvation is clearly shown in Scripture. When people were convicted on the day of Pentecost and asked what they should do, the apostolic answer was clear and direct. Acts 2:38 teaches repentance, baptism in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and the promise of receiving the Holy Ghost. Repentance turns the heart toward God, baptism in Jesus’ name brings remission of sins, and the Holy Ghost empowers the believer for new life.

This pattern continues throughout the book of Acts. Believers were baptized in the name of Jesus in Acts 8:16 and Acts 19:5, while Acts 10:44-48 records the Holy Ghost falling on those who heard the Word before they were commanded to be baptized. Acts 2:4 shows the Holy Ghost accompanied by biblical evidence as believers spoke with other tongues as the Spirit gave utterance.

Acts 2:38 remains the apostolic pattern for salvation and discipleship, establishing repentance, baptism in Jesus’ name, and the infilling of the Holy Ghost as the biblical foundation for spiritual growth and faithful living.

Holy Living

Holy living begins with a heart surrendered to God. Romans 12:1 calls believers to present their lives as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable unto God. This holiness begins within, as Psalm 51:10 prays for a clean heart, and then becomes visible through outward life and conduct.

Obedience to Scripture shapes the believer’s character and daily choices. 1 Peter 1:15-16 calls believers to be holy in all manner of life, reflecting the nature of God. James 1:22 reminds us to be doers of the Word, showing that holiness is lived through active obedience rather than words alone.

A life led by the Spirit produces visible fruit. Galatians 5:16 teaches that walking in the Spirit helps believers overcome the desires of the flesh, while Galatians 5:22-23 describes the fruit of the Spirit displayed in daily living. Holy living reflects the transforming work of God within and honors the one God whose name is Jesus.
